I Raised 10 Kids Alone After My Wife Died in a Car Accident — 11 Years Later, My Eldest Daughter Confessed: ‘Dad… I Caused Mom’s Death’

I’m 48 years old now, and for the past 11 years, I’ve been raising our 10 children completely alone.

My wife, Sophia, died in a horrific car accident on a rainy night in 2015. The police said she lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene. I was left with our ten children — the oldest, Emma, was 14, and the youngest twins were only 10 months old.

Everyone told me it was impossible. A single man raising ten kids? They said I should put some of them up for adoption. But I refused. I promised Sophia on the day of her funeral that I would keep our family together no matter what.

I sold our old house, moved to a bigger one with a yard, quit my high-paying job, and started working from home so I could take care of them. I learned how to cook large meals, braid hair, coach sports, help with homework, and comfort ten broken hearts every single night. There were many nights I cried in the bathroom so the kids wouldn’t see me break down.

The children started calling me “Super Dad.” We slowly rebuilt our life. Birthdays, school events, holidays — I was there for all of it. I thought the worst was behind us.

Until yesterday.

Emma, now 25 years old, suddenly returned home after being away for college and work. She looked exhausted and haunted. After the younger kids went to bed, she asked me to sit with her in the living room.

“Dad… I need to tell you something I’ve kept inside for 11 years.”

I smiled softly. “You can tell me anything, sweetheart.”

She started crying before she even spoke.

“The accident… Mom’s accident… it wasn’t just a car crash.”

My blood ran cold.

“I was in the car with her that night. We were arguing. I was a rebellious 14-year-old and I grabbed the steering wheel during the fight. The car swerved… and hit the tree.”

She sobbed uncontrollably.

“I caused it, Dad. I killed Mom. And I’ve been living with this guilt for 11 years. I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry…”
